Career Goals

International artist, Yanni, wrapped up a 40-city tour in 1993 for his eighth album with three sold out performances in his native country at the Herodes Atticus Theatre in Athens, and since moving to the United States in 1972, one of his career goals was returning to perform at the Acropolis in Greece. He believed in himself so much and was determined to such an extent that when the opportunity arose, he self-funded the $2 million occasion to the dismay of his label & team, risking it all and leaving himself with less than $50K to his name. To me, this is one of the bravest examples of an artist betting on themselves and an equally rewarding leap of faith.

Initially, “Live at the Acropolis” was released in 1994 on CD and VHS, going quadruple platinum respectively. Ultimately, the album spent almost five years on the Billboard Top Music Video & Top VHS sales charts. It’s sold 750,000 home videos and more than 7 million albums while being viewed in 65 countries by half a billion people following PBS’s largest fundraiser ever over 3-years. Currently, it sits behind only Michael Jackson’s “Thriller” as the second best-selling music video of all time.

Being interested in anything music-related since I can remember, I’ve always set out to learn and master as many musical skills as possible and I have Yanni to thank for the life-changing inspiration I received when I saw “Live at the Acropolis” for the very first time at the age of 12.

Now, each job I’ve taken and every live gig in the future is training for the ultimate performer dream of leading an orchestra playing my music at the Gorge Amphiteatre in Washington (USA) where I saw my first in-person concert. That is my biggest career goal as a live performer.

The other impact Yanni had on my young, impressionable self was the incredible fact that he not only composed the music for “Live at the Acropolis,” but also produced, engineered and mixed it all himself. That blew my mind and it set forth the path in which I decided early on that I’d sponge everything I possibly could from him and anyone else who was talented to take on so many creative feats.

I had several other musical idols growing up – Michael Jackson, Tom Sholtz, Elton John, John Feldmann, Prince, Jack Black, Dr. Dre – but none of those still living had the Yanni-factor as much as one particular person, and that would be Dave Grohl.

Dave is someone who has the natural desire to master each craft with passion and precision. He’s become a global icon for selling over 100 million albums which he contributed writing, singing, production, drumming and other instrumentation, but what sets him apart from the others is his unwavering belief that music should be materialized in a human way – and no other living person exhibits this mastered craft as much as him.

Now, each job I’ve taken and every studio gig in the future is training for the ultimate composer dream of writing, recording, producing and mixing a record with Mr. Grohl at London Bridge Studio in Seattle (USA). That is my biggest career goal as a recording artist, producer and mixing engineer.
