Recording
Note: I’ve halted recording sessions due to Covid-19 until further notice & will update this page when in-person work resumes.
More often than not, I’m working on mixing projects in my own studio that were recorded and sent to me by others. If your situation calls for budget recording in the tracking phase though, I can certainly facilitate that. I have a standard microphone locker, a mobile 16-track digital recording rig, adequate amplification and a drum kit if needed.
Some bands like to rent out a big room and run through fancy analog gear and that’s great! It’s also important to remember that all great recordings contain a plethora of crucial ingredients - personnel, experience, technique, performance, instrument quality & maintenance and everything else that travels through the cables. Even things down to which types of sticks & strings you use, are all factors in the overall sonic makeup so it’s worth noting that “bigger” doesn’t always translate to “better.”
That being said, if you have a specific sound or room in mind, let’s talk. It may serve your purpose best to rent out the big room and pay for the esteemed recording engineer. Or, it may be in your best interest to work with a guy like me on the gear I’m most familiar with. I prefer the option that yields the results you’re looking for and I’m happy to do my part in attaining just that – whatever my role may be.
So if you want to set up in another studio, or even a different room like a rehearsal space, church, hall, garage, loft, warehouse, etc., let’s chat. Many artists find some sweet sounds in non-traditional places and experimentation is half the fun, right?
